THE GOOD NEWS
Good news! We can be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. This message of reconciliation is at the heart of the gospel, and it's beautifully explained in Romans 5:7-9 and 2 Corinthians 5:12-21.
Romans 5:7-9(ESV)"7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God."
2 Corinthians 5:12-21(NKJV)"12 For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION
In 2 Corinthians 5, the apostle Paul explains that God has given us the ministry of reconciliation. This isn't just a nice idea—it's the very purpose for which Christ came. As 2 Corinthians 5:19 tells us: "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them."
2 Corinthians 5:19(NLT)"19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation."
WHAT DOES RECONCILIATION MEAN?
Reconciliation means to restore a broken relationship. Because of sin, we were separated from God—enemies, as Paul describes it. But through Christ's death on the cross, God has made a way for us to be brought back into relationship with Him.
THE OLD HAS GONE, THE NEW HAS COME
When we place our faith in Jesus, we become new creations. Our old identity—defined by sin and separation from God—is replaced with a new identity in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17(NLT)"17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"
CHRIST'S LOVE COMPELS US
"Christ's love compels us." When we truly understand what Christ has done for us—reconciling us to God when we were His enemies—it should move us to share this good news with others.
2 Corinthians 5:14(NLT)"14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;"
WE ARE CHRIST'S AMBASSADORS
2 Corinthians 5:20-21(ESV)"20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
We can be reconciled to God, not because of anything we've done, but because of what Christ has done for us.
THE GOOD NEWS WE ALL NEED
This message of reconciliation is for everyone. No matter how far you feel from God, no matter what you've done, the door to reconciliation is open through faith in Jesus Christ.
Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make.
Accept Jesus Christ Today
It starts with saying "Yes" to Jesus. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and I believe that God raised Him from the dead. Romans 10:8-10 says if you believe that, you will be saved.
Romans 10:8-10 (NKJV): - 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make. This involves:
- Acknowledgment: Acknowledging that you are a sinner who is in need of a Savior - Jesus Christ.
- Repentance: Asking for forgiveness for your sins.
- Faith: Faith that Jesus died and rose on the third day to pay your sin debt in full.
- Surrender: Invite Jesus into your heart and make Him the Lord of your life!
If you are ready to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, pray this prayer:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins to pay my sin debt in full and rose on the third day to give me life. I accept You, Jesus, as my personal Savior and Lord. I invite You, Jesus, to come into my heart and life as my Savior and Lord. I want to trust and follow You as the Lord of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
If you prayed this prayer, please reach out and say Hi as I would love to meet you and pray for you!
