Frequently asked questions
About the app, the website, and the ministry behind them.
- Is the Jesus Christ My King app free?
- Yes. The app is completely free, with no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases. Everything in it — Scripture memorization, saved verses, sermon notes and reading streaks — is included. Supporting the ministry with a donation is entirely optional, and lives only on the website.Support the ministry
- Do I need an account to use the app?
- Yes, the app asks you to create a free account with an email address and password. That is what lets your saved verses, prayers, notes and reading streak follow you between devices and survive a new phone. The website is different: posts and resources can be read without signing in, and an account is only needed to save verses or write notes. One account works for both.Read the postsBrowse the resources
- Is there an Android version of the app?
- Not yet. The app is currently available for iPhone on the App Store. Android is planned but has not been released. In the meantime the website works in any phone browser, and both notes and memorization can be used there.Download on the App StoreWhat the app does
- Which Bible translations are used?
- Scripture comes from the New King James Version (NKJV), the King James Version (KJV) and the New International Version (NIV), delivered through API.Bible. On the website you can choose which translation to look a verse up in when saving verses or writing notes. The resource pages quote the King James Version throughout, because it is public domain and can be published freely.Browse the resources
- Does the app work without an internet connection?
- Partly, and deliberately so where it matters most. Sermon and study notes are written to your device first and sync when a connection returns, because notes are usually taken in a building with poor signal. The resource pages are built into the app and are always available. Looking up a new verse or loading the Verse of the Day does need a connection, since that text is fetched when you ask for it.
- Will the app send me notifications?
- Only if you ask it to. Both reminders are off until you turn them on: a daily Bible reading reminder at a time you choose, and an optional reminder of a verse or affirmation you have starred. The verse reminder can be set to show only a generic message rather than the verse text, so nothing personal appears on your lock screen.
- What is the gospel?
- The gospel is the good news that God created and loves you, that sin separated all of us from Him, and that Jesus — God the Son — lived a perfect life, died on the cross in our place and rose again. Salvation is not earned; it is received by turning from sin and trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord.Read it in full, with a prayer
- How do I start praying?
- Prayer is simply talking with God honestly, in your own words — there is no formula to get right. Many people find the A.C.T.S. pattern helpful: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. When words will not come, praying the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6 is a pattern Jesus Himself gave.See the full guide to prayer
- Where should I start reading the Bible?
- Start with the Gospel of John to see who Jesus is, then Mark for a fast account of His life, Psalms for honest prayers, Proverbs for practical wisdom, and Romans for the gospel explained in depth. Reading a little each day matters more than reading a lot occasionally.See the full reading path
- Who writes Jesus Christ My King?
- Jesus Christ My King is written and maintained by Justin Glover. It is an independent Christ-centered ministry rather than the publication of a church or denomination, and the beliefs it affirms are set out in full, with Scripture references, on the About page.About the ministry
- What information does the app store about me?
- Your account details, the content you save such as verses, prayers, affirmations and notes, and activity like your reading streak and memorization practice history. There is no third-party advertising and no cross-app tracking, and personal information is never sold. Your account and its content can be deleted from within the app or from your profile on the website.Read the privacy policy
